Not sure what the point is. The families of those 17 are just as devastated as the families of the 50. Comparing the number of dead doesn't make anything ok.

The math does not add up, and it bothers me.

A man walks in to a night club with an AR-15, shoots 103 people in under 7 minutes at 2am. The majority of the victims were shot multiple times, some as many as 12 times, with reports of several dozen rounds fired in the air and several dozens of rounds missing. 3 hours later, engages in a gun battle with 9 police officers that lasts nearly an hour.

So let me get this straight...one lone shooter in under 7 minutes reloaded his AR-15 30 times with 30rd magazines in under 7 minutes, firing nearly 1,000rds of .223 ammunition while in a nightclub surrounded by 320 people, managing to kill and injure 1/3 of them, takes a 3 hour break, and then engages in another gun battle lasting nearly and hour in what was described as a "hail of bullets" with a SWAT team?

Having years and years of experience with AR-15s, it would take me nearly 7 minutes to reload 30 times...let alone having time to aim and shoot 1,000 rounds semi-automatic in between firing dozens of rounds in the air screaming "Aloha Snack Bar"...just saying...something doesn't add up...

Let's not even mention the fact that he managed to have 30, 30rd AR mags loaded and at the ready in order to do it under 7 minutes. If he is holding an ammo can in one hand (that weighs 40 pounds) and an AR in the other...what was he doing...reloading and firing with one hand at the same time? Either that, or he had a tactical vest from Hell that was able to hold 30 mags!! Something ain't right folks...

    Something else that bothers me.

This was a guy who had a history of being investigated not once, but TWICE by the FBI, yet passed an FBI background check and purchased two guns just prior to the shooting. How did he pass? I thought background checks were the cure all to all this? What branch of government does the FBI fall under?

Correct. Laws have no value. Because laws against murder, assault, theft, public urination and speeding do not completely eradicate them, those trash laws should be taken off the books.

It's working in Australia. It works in other countries, too.

God forbid we should have to make some sacrifices in this country to stop the madness.

Try to understand the enormous difference between someone who doesn’t want to be caught and someone willing to die during the committing of his crimes.

Since he was not convicted of a crime, or even under current indictment, the NICS wouldn't have flagged him.

They'd be armed for a mass shooting response.

But, day to day, conducting speed traps and the like, they wouldn't be. Over time, it'd have a profound impact.

Our culture believe guns convey authority and power.

I do. The latter uses an assault rifle.

But he's not more evil than Dahmer, is he? To be sure, he's less depraved.

And yet he killed 33 more.

I'd just as soon reduced the killing capacity of the latter, you know?

And since we can't know who's evil, maybe we can regulate the damn guns a little better .

I love the new talking point that, of all things, The Gays having their own clubs is discriminatory.

That's totally the important takeaway from all this.

Heroine and crystal meth are treated (at least in part) as part of a public health problem.

Unfortunately, congressional whores and cowards in both parties won't allow the same approach to gun violence. The CDC is prevented by law from studying gun violence despite its obvious epidemic status.

Stunning, isn't it, what guns can do?

"Gay Club " does seem like a dated term in the age of inclusiveness. Calling it
a gay club seems like it would be labeling. Why not just call in a "Dance club"?
