It looks like they have a much bigger following than Westboro, but it's still not large.

I think most people don't realize that Westboro is a very small church and almost all the members are somehow connected to the Phelps family.

Why would the FBI tell the ex-wife not to tell the American media that she believe Mateen was gay?

 

Hypothesis: This was his twisted repentance for being gay, a way to salvage his soul.

 

Maybe in deference to Matteen's father - the incoming President of Afghanistan.

 

Maybe he thought he caught the gay from a public restroom and was angry.

It was interesting to see this, because when this first happened, I thought to myself that I wouldn't be surprised if the shooter turns out to be gay, or that this was otherwise not just a random hate crime. His picking this particular place to shoot up seemed just a little bit too specific and planned for reasons beyond it being an unexpected, soft and crowded target, particularly as Pulse was located some distance from his home and Mateen had to have pointedly gone there.

Now, it seems, this was familiar territory for him.

Mateen blew away two off duty cops who shot at him early in the massacre. So much for the righty talking point about arming everyone.

Completely believable is that thread getting locked within a week.

 

Match made in heaven. The poster who retroactively knew that Strasburg was getting an extension and the poster who retroactively knew the shooter was gay.

 

This is a step up from your average closeted Republican lawmaker proposing anti-gay laws. There has to be a lot of self loathing involved.
