So, the San Bernardino shooter's mom lived in a bomb factory, but knew nothing.

The Orlando shooter's wife went with him to buy ammo, and did nothing.

But, Trump gets criticized when he says that the families of these guys need to be looked at more.

I think he was criticized for saying the families of these guys need to be killed.

You channeled a lot of the thoughts I was getting ready to type.

YF, who gets the power to decide something isn't "really" a religion, and how do you safeguard them from coming after a group you favor and deciding they aren't legitimate either? Are you comfortable with Obama or Clinton having that power? Do you want Donald Trump to have that power?

Well, that, but I also want us to promote Western values in contrast to Muslim values.

We fought an ideological war vs. Communism. We determined it was a corrupt, bankrupt ideology, at odds with our own, and that had to be opposed.

We weren't afraid to say our way of life was better.

We set up things like Voice of America to undermine Communism, to get our message out to those living under it.

How do we appeal to those living under ISIS without offering them an alternative? Why do we praise the religion that subjects them, instead of promoting our way of life to them?

    That was ISIS families.

But, he's also said, in the aftermath of San Bernardino, and I believe again in this case, that the families of these guys know something is up, and need to come forward.

Yeah, our ideological battle against Communism managed to be pulled off without any collateral damage at all. A triumphant chapter in the history of the American government.

    Link to criticism of that?

It's not that it's not "really" a religion. It's that it's more than just a religion.

Muslims understand this. Saying this is not controversial.

If it were "only" a religion, there wouldn't be an issue.

This needed to be in blue for his sake.

So the U.S. government should set out to religiously convert the Middle East to something not-Muslim?

Should we close down all mosques in this country?

No, YOU win. We should ignore the threat of Islamic radicalism. That will show all those terrible Republicans! Fight the real enemy! Maybe even institute Sharia Law to show how open-minded America really is.
