Yes, the Orlando PD should be vilified for telling the media it was an AR when it was just an AR-style rifle.

 

There are two questions here:

1. Would it violate the 2nd Amendment to ban these rifles?

2. Would it be poor policy to ban these rifles?

I think the answer is "no" in both instances. What say the rest of you?

The "assault weapon ban" largely focused on individual features.

Even putting it back in place would do little:

Did a delay in police response give shooter more time?

Nothing to see here. Simple case of workplace violence. Guy worked there, and took his manager hostage.
