    He wouldn't be Pete otherwise.

Considering Ichiro spent his first 7 years in Japan and didn't get to MLB until he was 27, getting to 3,000 in that span of time is incredible.

Of course, racking up more than 200 hits a year for 10 straight years (often quite a bit more than 200) will get you there quick.

    Olerud's OBP was higher.

A close friend of mine was a sports reporter in Cincy for years.

"No one is more impressed with Pete Rose than Pete Rose."

Between Rose and Chad Johnson, no shortage of pricks.

Question for Tony and the other Brewers fans here. Are people taking Jonathan Villar seriously yet? He opened the season keeping the shortstop position warm for Orlando Arcia, but right now he has an .813 OPS and he leads the majors with 23 stolen bases.

The speed is clearly real, but what about the rest of it? I read some old scouting reports that had him as an immature and erratic player with big upside, so maybe he just grew up?

At what point does Girardi start feeling the seat getting warmish?

He's been great, and seems a decent bet for the All Star Game. He still runs into bad outs too often. Has a little Carlos Gomez in him as far as that goes. But he hasn't done that in about two weeks now.

If they bring up Arcia this summer, Villar will probably become their everyday third baseman or second baseman.

Did you look at his lineup today? Particularly 4-8.
