Enjoyed watching the game with a few thousand of my closest friends on East 4th Street in downtown Cleveland tonight, one of the spots they kept showing for crowd reaction. Never heard anything so loud in my life as the moment when the Cavs clinched it. Nothing downtown went unclimbed -- posts, signs, fences, fire escapes, buses, fire trucks, you name it.

Cleveland population explosion comes in mid-March.

Man, what an impressive run for Cleveland. They looked very out of it and facing long historical odds. But they made a key adjustment on offense and James just became a monster defensively. He did a ton of work to take away Golden State's easy shots inside, and they missed a ton of very open 3s. GSW spent the last game waiting for the run that never came. I don't know that we'll ever manage to give James' performance in the last three games (really 5 and 6) the credit it deserves, but from a two-way perspective, it was unreal.

As a Warriors fan, I assume others will complain. I can run through the list of problems (Bogut out, Green situation, Curry not being 100 percent, somehow ending up on the wrong end of a 25-13 free throw deficit at home in Game 7, the inability to convert an advantage of shot quality into points). I think I can acknowledge these, feel the team I like was impacted by situations, one self-inflicted, but do nothing to take away from what Cleveland did. I leave irked because the record went for naught, able to see that it's a really nice thing for Cleveland's fans and appreciate getting one last year a bit more.

When you shoot jump shots you are likely to be on the wrong end of the free throw discrpency

Probably, but Cleveland hasn't really been all that at getting to the line. They were 23rd in the regular season and 13th among 16 teams once the playoffs started. Shoot, this year both teams were the same in terms of what percentage of their offense came from jumpers. I'm not blaming the refs, since it takes a lot of focus and objectivity to judge them, and I wasn't doing that. Just saying it's unusual to see such a gap.

Stayed up as long as I could. Got to the end of the 3rd quarter then crashed, then woke up as LeBron was screaming CLEVELAND!

Good for the Cavs and for Cleveland. Good for LeBron. Whatever you think of him and his career, he is a transcendent talent, and maybe the best that ever was.

Congrats to the Warriors too (and SJ Warriors diehards). Back-to-back seasons for the record books.

One of the great sports stories of my lifetime. Pretty cool to watch that unfold last night.
