You could see it heralding in a new renaissance for rock 'n' roll.

If we recognize we are never going to ban or limit assault-style weapons, what else would you like to see restricted?

    Fireball whiskey?
Any new dog breed that ends in -poo?
    Pop-up ads?
    Hedge funds?
Any insurance company or car-repair shop that does business with smallpotatoes?

This country really is amazing. We want good guys with guns to fix the problem but we question whether people in the club were inadvertently killed by police/security. And we want ISIS/etc eliminated at all costs, except via drone strikes that kill civilians. The world doesn't work that way.

As for the 3-hour gap, which never really existed, the officers did what they were trained to do. The shooter claimed to have explosives, yet they risked their lives to get the injured out. Hostage situations are tough on law enforcement. If they stormed the club and got everyone, including them, killed, the fucking hypocrites here would vilify them still.

So what I think you're saying is that if we are unwilling to prevent people on the terrorist watch list from legally buying assult rifles, we should arm club security guards with drones?

I don't think it's hypocritical to question the 3-hour lag time. Since Columbine, the authorities have not treated active shooter scenes as something to wait out.

Procedure in recent years has been to assume the shooter is killing as many people as fast as he can.

BUT, to their credit, the cops in Orlando were working to free the people in that time and the crazy dude was on the phone communicating. So this wasn't your average, hum-drum "shoot everyone in sight and save the last bullet for yourself scenario" that we see weekly.
