Yesterday a Leave leader said its campaign promise to shift what Britain spends on the EU to the National Health Service was "a mistake that never should have been made," that is, we lied. Today another Leave leader said that if people thought this meant there wouldn't be any more immigration from the EU, they were going to be disappointed.
The Leave leaders may get themselves lynched before Britain does anything.

If this was going to be so damaging to US economy how come our leadership did not sound the alarm sooner and bring greater world wide visibility to the issue?

Because the US mostly reacts to things instead of being proactive. Focus on the short term, not the long term. Spend over a year getting elected, and then do a little, worry about getting reelected, then spend over a year running for reelection.

What gets me lately is the lack of focus on even the short term - it's just do nothing. A do nothing government.

Obama went to Britain and spoke of the benefits of the EU. He warned Britain Leave would upset trade relations with the US. What more was he supposed to do, have the CIA rig the election? Don't blame our country's ignorance of and indifference to foreign events on our government. No previous administration, Republican or Democratic, would or could have done more than the current one.

The Leave Vote won by about two percentage points. It is a non binding vote. Is it possible the new Prime Minster never quite works out an exit agreement. Even if a new election is held it does not take many voters suffering from buyer's remorse for the PM to survive.

This is a reminder that the dumbest voters are always the ones you disagreee with. #neverfails

Leave won by a healthy enough margin, more than 1 million votes. I do think Boris Johnson is shitting his pants now, though. He'll have to deliver on everything he promised (a great trade deal with Europe, for starters).

Wingnuts on both sides of the Atlantic went apeshit over what he DID do.

Of course it did give the UK rednecks a chance to join in on the huffing and puffing about the Mooslim Neegro, a pasttime they've mostly had to leave to their American cousins for the last eight years.

It's enlightening to know that people world-wide suddenly become raving racists if they ever show the audacity to disagree with Obama.
