FWIW, at least in Bordeaux the security for the Fanzone (where I met scalpers of many nations) was way, way more severe than for the stadium itself. Apparently the French cops had their reasons.

The Chile-Argentina game is like watching the 1970s Flyers with 20 Bill Barbers. Everybody is a diver.

Compared to the Euros it is almost unwatchable.

I thought messi didn't dive. He's diving today.

The second half has been much, much better.

Sad Messi might replace Crying Jordan.

Italy have any chance in this one?

Quite decent chance. Been playing very well in group stage.

Guess against Belgium they were impressive. But Sweden isn't that good, and then against Ireland they kind of mailed it in knowing they had 1st in the group. But I don't think they expected to win the group entering the tourn. And as the draw went, they probably would've been better off finishing 2nd. Just a casual fan, but I'll say Spain 3 Italy 1.

First 10 minutes, most play has been deep in Spain's end.

Wow. Didn't expect this. Italy probably could've had another goal in the 1st half. They deserved it. Seems Germany and France are the two best teams, but didn't think Italy would get this far.

How about Iceland England. Tommy Smyth said Hodgson is fired if England loses.

Did not see the Italy game, but followed along on The Guardian's webpage, which I highly recommend if you aren't near a TV, both for the informative and entertainment value. I still think Germany is the team to beat, but they'll have their hands full with Italy on Saturday.
