They all care about their votes.

Still no evidence that Mateen was gay, though the Times refuses to rule it out. (Hey, unless you can prove a negative, it might be true.)

But, even the false idea that he was gay might help some good done of this:

Christopher Hansen, 32, a witness to the Pulse massacre, said that if it turned out that Mr. Mateen had been gay, it might open a conversation about homophobia in Muslim and other religious households where homosexuality is sometimes not accepted.

“Maybe this would help open up eyes in all religions,” he said.

Um, Christopher Hansen said kind of the opposite of what you're saying.

I'm at a loss as to what your problem with that story is. All these men are publicly saying this. The FBI is investigating the claims. The Times puts in some work to debunk them. This could have run in the National Review.

The guy quoted diesn't even say that the story will do some good even if it's not true. He explicitly says "if it's true," it will do some good. I don't know what story YF is reading in his imaginary iPad.

I expect other Dems will shame him for bringing due process concerns to a national security debate.

I knew before I could see your Tweet who this was going to be. I doubt they are surprised enough for it to draw much of a reaction, honestly. This has been his issue for a very long time, and he's not budging.

That said: It's interesting to me that you explain to us that Trump's Wall and his tightening up of the libel law are simply starting positions in a negotiation that we shouldn't take seriously. Nonetheless, when it comes to the Dems' gun bills (which I agree with you on), or Obama's earlier expressed positions on the Second Amendment expressed in questionairres and such, you extend no such benefit of the doubt.

Trump isn't an ideologue. He's not a conservative, and he's really not even a Republican. His whole thing is, "I'm a negotiator."

The Dems in question are ideologues. They've proven this.

The Dems got into politics to change things.

Trump is running to get things done. He has no interest in social policy.

So do you think the armed security guard at the Orlando nightclub was as likely to retreat if the shooter had a .22 pistol or knife?

Are you going to defend your misinterpretation of the Times story?
