Reading the last few pages this morning:

 

Theorem: 1 = 2
Proof:
1. Let X = Y
2. Multiple both sides by Y. We now have XY = Y^2
3. Subtract X^2 from both sides: We now have XY - X^2 = Y^2 - X^2
4. Factor both sides. We now have X(Y-X) = (Y-X)(Y+X)
5. Simplify. Because X = Y we now have X = 2X, which further simplifies to 1 = 2.
Q.E.D.

 

And the correct answer is ... 4?

 

That's how the mainstream media reported it, which is the only thing making me think it's true.
