Generals only get elected President if they win wars or at least big battles (Jackson). No current candidates because Gulf War 1 was our last win, and Powell is out due to Gulf War 2.

There are no winners in war. Only those who lose more than the other.

I know at least one general, a three-star, who would be a very effective Secretary of Defense.

But he's way too much of a "my way or the highway" type to be president. Or, at least, he's way too open about being so.

I agree with that sentiment, so let me amend my remarks to say "generals who are perceived to have won wars."

Has no one told Trump where the graphic originated?

We had more generals as President in our earlier years because the upper ranks drew from the upper crust, whence came the governing elite. This nonsense about having to have been a winner is just that ... nonsense.

Trump's now moved on to handicapping his own VP search.

Cotton and Earnst, both veterans, would be good picks. Cotton hammered Clinton on MTP on Sunday.
