Didn't she also say somewhere along the line that she asked for and received permission to use non-State Department e-mail?

He was asked a similar question but answered in politi-speak. "It would be a consideration" or some such non-answer.

Seems like there are a whole lot of hats being hung on what Comey said ***could*** happen in a similar case.

"Could" does not equal "will" or "must" or even "should." Seems like an obvious point, but apparently isn't.

S0, yeah, it's National Review, and, yeah, it's David French, but ...

I'm pretty sure he was asked what would happen to someone who worked for him who had the same set of facts, and he said that person would be disciplined -- I believe the possibilities he brought up were terminated, suspended 30 days, security clearance removed or reprimanded.

"Reprimanded." Let's all settle on "reprimanded," then, since that's what he did at the press conference anyway.

    Done!

This is from CNBC: Why FBI director Comey didn't recommend prosecution for Clinton

It includes this from former FBI Assistant Director Ron Hosko:

Care to tell us how she should be reprimanded without being charged?

I give up, you tell me.

All I'm telling you is Comey said an employee of his under the same set of facts would be subject to some sort of discipline, then proceeded to reel off different possibilities for that discipline.

The rest is up to you.

You went from termination to reprimand in your range.

That's an impossibly large range to even interpret.

The triumphalism 'round these parts suggests that the perception that Herself was reprimanded is not, shall we say, widely held.

Once more, it wasn't my range. It's what Comey said. And I wasn't taking notes, so like a coach, I'll have to check the film to make sure I'm remembering that correctly.
