Send these documents to all 200 of those petition-signing meatheads.

Admittedly I was so sickened by this story that I stopped following all its permutations, but why would a coach want to keep associating with a guy like Sandusky? Was he that great of a coach that you'd be able to stomach even a hint of this stuff? None of this has ever added up from Paterno's perspective.

Everybody fucking knew. They all knew.

It was likely discussed in passing that Jerry "liked little boys" or "has a thing for young boys" and that was that.

It's why he never got another job.

And, everyone who knew, or who had heard the rumors, did nothing when Jerry started a charity -- and received awards for it -- where he worked with young, troubled boys. They did nothing when he adopted young boys. They did nothing when he brought young boys along with him -- sharing his room with them -- to bowl games.

But why keep him around? Did he have dirt on Paterno and other people?

A couple of names you might know (both currently Division I defensive coordinators) mentioned in the court documents:

Because they didn't care. He wasn't molesting their kids.

If you go back to the '70s and '80s, there were priests, coaches, Boy Scout leaders, who everyone knew "liked little boys" and no one did anything.

    From the Washington Post:

“Is it accurate that Coach Paterno quickly said to you, ‘I don’t want to hear about any of that kind of stuff, I have a football season to worry about?'” the man’s lawyer asked him in 2014.

“Specifically. Yes … I was shocked, disappointed, offended. I was insulted… I said, is that all you’re going to do? You’re not going to do anything else?”

Paterno, the man testified, just walked away.
    Two things:

    1. That testimony and recollection is awfully on the nose. I have a football season to worry about and is that all you’re going to do? You’re not going to do anything else? comes right out of a movie script. Not saying the encounter didn't occur in some form, mind you, but that quote, as framed by the lawyer, is almost comically villainous.

    2. This case is, at this point, some kind of macabre and dense. Penn State wants the insurance company to pay, the company denies the policy (of course), Penn State sues, and the insurance company now leans on testimony that...did some of this receive cross-examination? There's a dreadful fascination to this case. It is a moral and legal nightmare.

For some serious fingers in the ears "LALALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU" nonsense check out Fat Scott Paterno's Twitter.

If you got sexually abused, and then verbally shot down by a prominent celebrity (maybe THE biggest celebrity in your world if you're a football-loving kid in 1970s central Pennsylvania), you don't think the details of that would stick in your mind forever?

Penn State should use this design.
