So I take it from this thread that Jeff Pearlman once quoted someone accurately, is opinionated on social media, disagrees politically with some here and dabbles in marketing his work.

Gee. When the Feds are done with Hillay, I hope they look into this Pearlman character.

It's fun to anonymously shit on someone whose career has been more successful than most active posters here.

    Come. On.

Pearlman is a perfect example of a journalist whose Twitter profile/persona does him zero favors. In this case, he finds a story and, instead of just writing about it, has to tout it before it's written then, when he's forced to bail on the project, he throws out the nugget about someone not wanting to be found.

Well, guess what? Someone who doesn't want to be found...also generally doesn't need or want anyone to say that on their behalf. Especially on Twitter! But Pearlman, being the narcissist he has long been, couldn't not spill the beans on the front and back end.

Could you imagine a local journalist doing that and not getting a tremendous amount of shit?

It is what it is, but Pearlman unnecessarily inserted drama into a person's life who didn't ask for it.

And I mean this sincerely: when I read pearlman's work - which I have vicariously enjoyed at times - I've sensed just a little too much zeal for documenting human moral weakness.
