Trump cheats at golf - the ONE and ONLY politics thread

I just keep imagining a world where a Republican nominee -- maybe even Trump -- could combine some of Trump's best aspects, with a professionally run and staffed campaign, that was properly funded.

Looking ahead to Philadelphia, Republican strategist Rick Wilson said of the Democrats, “Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Elizabeth Warren — they’re all going to be out there swinging for the fences. But the Republicans, it’ll be like a hostage video of people forced on stage.”

 

Republicans are also looking good in the Senate races in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

Dems will waste a lot of money on those races.

Could also be a case where the down ballot race helps the Presidential nominee.

 

Only Ryan, McConnel and Cruz aren't fully onboard the Trump train. And they'll still sell the Republican Party agenda. And go after Hillary.

Trump's family is the potential game changer. If the can humanize Trump, and make him more likable, his numbers could really get a bounce.

 

Not that I don't get where that writer's going, but "swinging for the fences" for the Clintons, Obamas, et al. -- "We're going to make those people pay more so you people can get thus-and-such" -- isn't exactly a matter of great courage.

Actually, the worst thing long-term for the Republicans would be for Trump to win. If there's one thing we've learned in this century, Americans reject unified control of the government at their earliest opportunity. And with both candidates so unpopular, the winner will take office with no honeymoon and lots and lots of enemies. Let's face it. Any nominee other than him, and it'd be Clinton with the 30-37 percent chance to win.

 

Would really depend on how the economy goes, as well as war/terror issues.

 

Bush was on track to lose his Congressional majority in 2002 before the Iraq War scare was ginned up. I seriously doubt a new war would give either President Clinton or Trump a political boost. Quite the contrary.

 

I didn't say a war would help.

 

YF, given your rightful disdain for Obama meeting with somebody who appears to be a Dallas truther how are you supporting the most famous birther? Isn't electing a whackadoo worse than the POTUS meeting with one?
