Chicago prosecutors to release two men wrongfully convicted of 1993 murder

What the fuck? They were arrested ... they must have done something wrong.

 

This is going to shock the hell out of Old Tony.

 

Yes. Maybe they didn't commit this particular murder, but I'm sure they got what was coming to 'em.

 

For the record, I'm not their attorney, though we did have third-party role in this, I guess is all I'll say for now.

Were there calls for the death penalty when they were so obviously guilty?

 

In one of the trial transcripts for one of the related cases the State's Attorney at sentencing said something along the lines of considering pursuing the death penalty and how the defendant is fortunate that they did not.

I have a friend who got involved in this case as some sort of class project while at Northwestern. Oh shit, maybe my friend is ...

Seriously, I know my friend feels very proud to have played even a very small part, so big congrats to you, Dick, for whatever way you may have helped correct this injustice.

 

I did not go to Northwestern. But, yeah, many people had their hands on this through the years. Seems like Anita Alvarez was the last person to come around.

 

It's a shame real life is not more like an episode of Law & Order, perhaps then detective Reynaldo Guevara would be arrested and jailed.
