We used to have a guy here who went by a bunch of letters who did something similar whenever gay rights came up -- he'd vehemently (angrily) support the anti-gay politician or law on some vague free-speech grounds, and gin up some other bad stuff that once happened on the other side, without ever taking a position on the actual question.

This reminds me of that guy.
