I'll also agree the hede writers wanted to capitalize on the fact that Hillary was now formally the nominee so their hedelines reflected that point and it came off badly given the photos they had. If you go the historic night route and the jumbotron photo is bad and you're pushing deadline, then maybe having the screaming hoards of jubilant supporters. Conversely, like you said, they probably should have changed the hedeline to reflect Bill making the pitch for his wife on the historic night. That was probably the easiest fix.

I think they actually like each other friends-wise, and even rely on each other for discussion and emotional support yada yada, and that they would have gotten a truly amicable divorce years ago (and remained quite close even now) if not for the political implications.

I was thinking more because of their busy lives as an empty nest power couple than I was passive aggressively commenting on their marriage. Whatever works for them.
