Saving the auto industry was a huge priority. I recently traded in the 2010 Chevy I bought to help the cause.

There are plenty of times in history when Congress has had an adversarial, even caustic, relationship with the White House and still worked to get things done. Ever since seizing power after the 2010 elections (and to the extent they could before with Senate filibusters), Republicans have done everything possible to not only obstruct but delegitimize and humiliate Obama, consequences to the country be damned. And as much as you don't want to hear it, the primary driving force has been racism, if not directly in the hearts of the politicians themselves (there has been some of that) then in the hearts of many of their constituents, with their representatives and senators realizing stoking those old hatreds was the surest, safest way to cling to the power and benefits of the government system they profess to hate.

This will almost certainly be the point where you and other conservatives will respond indignantly that you are in no way racist and merely disagree strongly with Obama. (I personally believe that's true of you, though not everyone on the board.) But whether it was timidity or neglect or believing the ends justified the means, principled conservatives stood by and watched those on their side whip the masses of working class and heartland whites into a racist frenzy that now burns like a poorly contained wildfire.

And even though the black man that had the audacity to be president is leaving, the fire burns on, charring the countryside and leaving it unrecognizable to so many. You see it in the reactions of so many to the DNC. They are dumbfounded that Democrats could wave flags, chant "USA" and proclaim their love of country, soldiers and police, as though it never occurred to them that patriotism is bipartisan. So they go on insisting that there are no flags to be seen in bald-faced contradiction to what can easily be seen on nearly a dozen television channels, in daily newspapers or on countless legitimate websites. There are millions of Old Tony's in this country who spend every day in a near-permanent state of cognitive dissonance.

Framing the Republican response to the Obama years as policy disagreement is intellectually dishonest. In 50 years, the history books will be unsparingly harsh, with this generation of Republicans looked upon the way we regard George Wallace, Theodore Bilbo, Strom Thurmond and the like today.

The redneck teabags want Obama's legacy to be utterly unmitigated disaster, so for the next 50 years they can use him as a cautionary tale: "see what happens when you put Those People in the White House."

So they've worked furiously every minute of his term to make sure of it.

    Treason.

Pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan has worked out real well, huh? Never mind the mess Libya is in. Eliminated Bin Laden? I thought he was against water boarding? So the info gathered during W's administration was bad because of it, but he gets credit for making the call...funny how that works. We would have been better served letting GM go bankrupt. The funny this is, our protectionist policies caused the mess our auto industry went through, and we want more of those policies.

Healthcare for millions? It's been a mess. It's killing small business, and the REAL cost hasn't even kicked in yet.

Healthcare is a disaster. I've tried to help multiple family members get set up, and it's a goat rodeo. Complete shitshow. And expensive as all fuck.

Is this an original thought or plagiarized like your last one in the Orlando shooting?

I had almost forgotten about that particular insanity. Completely fucked over poor people as the price of used cars skyrocketed over night.
