I have no delusions of the Trojans winning. But if they are within two touchdowns, I will be satisfied. A bigger deficit than that will be unsatisfactory.

    It's a death star, not a microbrewery.

You can still get Lone Star pretty much everywhere around here. I understand that Pearl is available, but I don't usually see it.

At the JerryDome, however, you're going to have a helluva time finding anything other than Miller Lite, which is the "official" beer there. There are some nooks and crannies at which you can buy other products (as I recall they're all from MillerCoors), but these are decidedly few and far between.

When I'm not in the JerryDome and wanting something local, of late I've been enjoying Deep Ellum Brewing's Dallas Blonde ...

Don't know whether it was the can or the motto -- "Goes Down Easy" -- that got me.

I see Alabama catching a couple of losses this year, but USC ain't one of em.

I feel like we throw the word "legendary" around a little too liberally. Is Spurrier really "legendary?"

If legendary means Mount Rushmore of college football, no.

If it means a name you automatically associate with the game and influencing it . . . yes.

    Who's Bama's QB? There's a guy with 52 career attempts, and there's a freshman.

Who's the RB? Scarborough and his 18 career carries?

Who's replacing some of the defensive studs like Ragland?

Defense will be fine. Not as deep as last year, but there are at least 6 or 8 future NFL draft picks on that defense.

The inexperience at QB and RB is a concern, however, at least for now. But they've got three 5-star recruits at RB, which is generally a plug-and-play position.
