They could have easily done this by celebrating the 30th anniversary of the 1986 National Championship team and no one would have bitched. That team pulled one of the great upsets by beating Miami and Hesiman winner Testaverde. But by doing that they call attention to the fact that (a) it's their last national title and (b) yeah, they've rarely been relevant since, aside from a couple of seasons and finally (c) Who was the defensive coordinator on that team again?
So instead, they do this, probably to shut up Fat Scott and the Anthony Lubrano's of the BoT.

I'm awaiting the day that the Penn State faithful demand the Paterno family be invited to the White House, where the current President offers a public apology for everything they've gone through.
