You realize every other conference in the country plays games at 11 a.m. local time these days, right? And that, at some point in the season, nearly every team slides into that time slot?

I think you're probably right (as re: both his mindset and the course of action he should have taken), but I also think there are very, very few top-echelon coaches who'd have done it differently.

When you are ejected in the first half, you automatically sit out half the next game. The second half of the game you were ejected from counts as a half-game suspension.

If you are ejected in the second half, you automatically sit out the entire next game. That's the case whether the ejection occurred on the first play of the third quarter or the final play of the game.

You can argue that USC should lengthen the suspension, but half a game wasn't their choice.

    That's automatic, by rule.

Boy, I sure hope his absence doesn't hurt them against Jacksonville State. Then again, the OVC Gamecocks may give LSU a better test than the ones from the SEC.

So USC did not suspend him. By definition of the penalty and ejection it was automatic. USC's only punishment was to have someone in the PR department write a letter with his name on it?

Sure beats watching Johnny Majors play for the tie.

Not since that windy day with a scissor lift, at least.

I've disagreed with Brian Kelly coaching moves over the years so many times my head spins.

Hell of a recruiter - after all, he got Kizer. Good talker. He'll make a great studio host one day.

    Slightly above average coach.
