For just one day in my life, stay in our own hemisphere.

    So far we're 0 for 20,257.

This is an important question in the presidential campaign. I'm on board with the HRC/Democrats belief the United States must retain both its advantages and responsibilities as leader of the free world and that it would be monumentally costly to cede that position. We are not one country among many; we're by far the most powerful on Earth and ultimately can't separate that power from the responsibilities that come along with it. Is that what American exceptionalism means? Not abandoning our leadership responsibilities?

I know Donald Trump doesn't like that term because it might cause hurt feelings. He also doesn't detract leadership points from Putin for asserting his will through a ruthless brand of KGB-honed authoritarianism.

A combination of Putin appeasement with economic and military isolationism isn'ta good look for the US going forward.

Obama has abandoned that responsibility on a number of occasions, including this week when he didn't bring up human rights concerns with China.

Now do Donald ... well, don't. He'd have to apologize for something first.
