I have heard this in almost every election since 1992 when I started voting. The only election where this wasn't a theme was 2000 because things were going very well and the biggest issue was whether to shore up Social Security or give everyone cash back with all that extra money we had. Turns out that WAS the most important election of our lifetime, as it's the one that ended up with everything fucked sideways in the next eight years.

So I don't think those proclamations mean much.

LOL. Trump assembled the media for a "birther" statement.

All the cable news channels carried it live. And, they had to sit through generals, admirals, and Medal of Honor recipients endorsing Trump, before Trump humbly accepted their endorsement, and then quickly dispatched with the birtherism nonsense.

And then took the media on a tour of his new property...

Too fucking funny.

But, this will surely be the last time the media lets Trump play them:

 

So if Trump is holding Hillary accountable for the actions of her supporters in the birther stuff, does he hold himself accountable when his supporters yell the N-word, post white power memes and punch protesters?

 

It simply isn't required. He can do well without doing that. I don't know how and I've given up trying to figure out what the dynamics are in this election, but there would be no reason for him to do that unless those associations started costing him in polls.
