Baltimore is a case in point. Years of liberal leadership, spending millions but conditions still no
better. At what point do the citizens of Baltimore say "this isn't working. We need a new plan"

In the category of too little / too late:
"We see this mindset in too many parts of the Middle East. There, so much of the collapse in order has been fueled because leaders sought legitimacy not because of policies or programs but by resorting to persecuting political opposition, or demonizing other religious sects, by narrowing the public space to the mosque, where in too many places perversions of a great faith were tolerated. These forces built up for years, and are now at work helping to fuel both Syria’s tragic civil war and the mindless, medieval menace of ISIL." / Obama UN Speech

This week's This American Life discussed education.

It recognizes that most of the "solutions" for improving education, and closing the "achievement gap" between black and white students have been tried, and have failed.

But one action has proven successful -- integration.

Yep. Putting black and white kids in class together.

Now, go and tell white parents in Brooklyn, Chicago, or other democrat run cities that their child is going to go to school with black children and tell me what their response is.

We've seen it happen. In many cases magnet schools are all about carving out white enclaves within the public school system.

New York and Chicago patents have gone ballistic when it's been suggested that school boundaries change.

So, please, don't tell me that white, urban, liberals have anyone's best interests in mind but their own.

    Democrats created white flight?

That certainly isn't the case here in a deep red state in a deep red county in a deep red town - that has seen two outlying towns explode in the past 20 years because of it.

The media's new game of taking everything Trump says hyper literally, and then "fact checking" it is transparent and absurd.

"Prsident Obama did not literally found ISIS! Trump is wrong!"

"Trump thinks blacks are worse off now than they were under slavery!!"

    Yes. Unquestionably.

Is there even a counter argument?

White democrats love African-Americans -- as long as their kids don't have to go to school with them.

But, Trump is a racist, pandering to his base when he talks about the problems in African-American neighborhoods.

It's funny that Inky believes the history of white flight begins in Texas, in the late 1990's.

Yes. That's where anyone who wants to study the issue goes.

Take slavery completely out of the equation, and it's still an utterly untrue and ridiculous thing to say.

It's his own fault. He's nothing if not unequivocal.

His belief system may change with the wind, but whatever he believes in at any given second, he believes 1 billion percent.

It's funny that you criticize the media for "taking everything Trump says hyper literally" yet then you turn around and do the exact same thing to my post.

I said nothing about the history of white flight or Chicago or NYC. I spoke about my personal experience. We have very conservative leadership here (not Texas, by the way). They used to say prayers over the PA system before football games here into the early 2000s - until a threatened lawsuit stopped them and caused much gnashing of teeth. Yet white flight from the biggest city has happened - even though Democrats haven't held office here since the Reagan Revolution.
