Belatedly watched "21"; not a bad movie.

Watched part of "The Right Stuff" this weekend too; still good.

Loved, loved, loved that movie ... especially the Carpenter-esque score.

Last movie I watched was ... gulp ... Spring Breakers. Was just insanely curious. It was weird.

Finally - finally! - watched "Captain America: Civil War." enjoyed it, but not entirely sure it's going to stick with me the way "Winter Soldier" did.

Still, I'd put the Captain America trilogy up against any other superhero trilogy (yes, including Nolan's Batman) in terms of overall quality and the progression of the title character from beginning to end.

They Were Expendable - for about the 20th time. One of the greatest war movies ever.

I would contend many young men of the '90s have been in a room like this, eyeing a live round like Rahad Jackson, and wondering what the fuck the guy will do next.
As a dad, guys like Rahad Jackson scare me the very most, not the fast women.

Don't bother asking why. I don't even know.

Saw an advanced screening of The Birth of a Nation. Wow. It is powerfully emotional and Nate Parker's screenplay was wonderfully executed in his directorial debut. How emotional was it? There was a teenage boy in the lobby crying in his father's arms.
Superbly acted, it will be a strong contender for several Oscar nominations.
I was one of only two white people in the theater in Charlotte, which was disappointing because everyone should see it. It's not a movie for black audiences. It's a movie for all audiences.

We went to "Queen of Katwe" Saturday evening. Compelling story told well. The abject poverty of Ugandan slums was portrayed in a matter-of-fact way. It was good to see an entirely African story that didn't have someone from the outside riding in to save the day.

Unfortunately, there were less than a dozen of us in the theater. The film might have trouble finding its audience.

Dan Cortese was the lead in the full-length version of The Lottery.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. I thought it was some dumb comedy, Animal House goes to Iraq. It's a very good, real movie. Tina Fey is serious and seriously good.

The marketing geniuses did a shit job.

I tried to watch a bit when it was on TV. Creepy. But also the way it was shot was show cheap and flat-looking I couldn't deal with it.
