Nah, you're just in convenient denial when other people support it.

He may not think he bragged about sexual assault, because he doesn't define it that way. But he did brag about sexual assault by all working definitions.

And as we have seen by all the women who have come forward, what he interprets as "lets" isn't consent, it is being intimidated into silence by the awfulness of it.

Those are allegations. You don't write it as fact.

Don't bother trying to win this argument. Dick is in character.

We aren't writing the allegations as fact. We are writing the most reasonable, accurate interpretation of what he said.

I am winning this argument and will likely continue to do so

How many people know the difference? How many care? What difference does it make?

Why hold the "straight news story" to a standard that few if any care if it meets?

I mean, I do. You do. But that's us caring about the standard of journalism. But there's no evidence that most of the people at Politico will embrace the loneliness of objectivity. Won't get you anywhere. It'll just make enemies, a minor distinction like that. Try being the person at politico who fights for that.

And on some level, with politcal coverage awash in shouting opinions anyway, what difference does it make? some editor at politico gets held to a line, while talking heads - some of whom are comedians! - comicsplain our government to us?

The only place this level of nuance really plays any more is a courtroom. You made a wise choice in careers.
