I don't know why people keep bringing up lawyers like some kind of insult. This is about journalism, and you don't write as fact that he admitted something as serious as sexual assault when it is ambiguous, no matter how big of a heel you think he is.

This is example 3,456,543 of "journalists think details are a buncha bullshit."

And this is why your argument is so blitheringly dumb.

Every single sentence in the English language has multiple interpretations. Context is every bit as much a part of the meaning of a sentence as the words involved.

What the sentence could theoretically mean in a vacuum is utterly irrelevant. What matters is what it meant in the context it was said. And what was meant did not describe valid consent.

I get it. We all hate him. Fuck him, etc.

You still don't write it that way.

Do you want to have a discussion or do you just want to be a fucking asshole?

Your standard of "ambiguity" here is so over broad that no sentence could ever be published.

You think you are making a semantic argument here, but it is actually a disgusting justification of sexual assault.

Your decision of which part of the post to address makes that choice.

You probably should stop talking about this, seeing as how you apparently don't know the definition(s) -- even the ambiguous ones -- of "justification."

How could you possibly know what I know from what I said? Every sentence contains at least some ambiguity, so who even knows anything?

If a fellow tries to play the French horn with a pair of pliers, he knows neither of pliers nor of French horns. So it is with you and words: They seem ambiguous to you because you don't know what they mean.
