Funny how we saw that hold by Hubbard so differently. I thought it was a good call. Hubbard clearly held and no way Jones gets that throw off if Hubbard doesn't grab the defender.

My issue is that the Patriots got away with doing exactly the same the same thing to Harrison on a completion during an earlier touchdown drive.

That was a touchback, and a sloppy play by the Patriots. This game is close because New England has been sloppy. The Patriots' three failed drives ended on a fumble and two drops.

49ers playing defense that would make Texas Tech proud.

I defended the officials on the hold by Hubbard, but the lack of a pass interference call on the pass down the sideline on that drive right before the half was just awful. The Patriots defender grabbed Hamilton's hand just before the ball arrived. I don't know how you miss that one. The Steelers still got a field goal on the drive, but they should have had more time to try to get a touchdown.

I wouldn't be surprised to see this game go the same route as the Patriots' contest against the Bengals last week, with New England pulling away after a close first half. I don't think counting on fumbles or drops by the Patriots' receivers is a viable defensive strategy and that is the only reason the Steelers held them to 14 points so far.

  5. Pretty throw by Brady to Gronk.
    Beauty.

It was only a matter of time until Gronkowski burned the Steelers. That was a horrible defensive drive by Pittsburgh. They got caught out of position on Blount's long run and putting Golden one-on-one against Gronkowski is a terrible defensive design. It was certainly a good throw and catch, but the design was flawed and Mitchell was late coming over to help.

This is where the Steelers have to be frustrated by the blown opportunities early in the game.

And now Antonio Brown is hurt. YGBFKM.

Dear God: Please terminate the Jacksonville Jaguars' franchise, which never should have existed in the first place. If they can't be eliminated, I'll settle for expulsion to London.

That was was too easy and this game is over. It is amazing how often Gronkowski ends up wide open against the Steelers. The Patriots gave away three drives today and still have four touchdowns.

The Steelers need to sit Antonio Brown. He is clearly trying to play hurt and they just should not risk his health. At this point, Pittsburgh's focus needs to be getting as healthy as possible for the game after their bye in two weeks against Baltimore.

Edit: Bad decision to continue to play Brown and even worse decision to try a 54-yard field goal there. Boswell has one miss and he has been shaky on some others today. They need to go for it on that play.

Why in the hell do you kick a 54-yard field goal down 11? That tells Jones you don't trust him to get two yards and a miss gives Hoodie the ball near midfield.

  10. Yeah, you go for it on 4th and 2 from there.

Exactly. It was a bad risk. I'm not sure how to view this as a Steelers fan. They seemed to just miss so often today, but it is still going to be a loss and this is still a team that is battling a hell of a lot of injuries. They also played an incredibly sloppy game with far too many penalties and missed opportunities.

See the current drive. Bell has a nice run called back for a hold, then they can't get the 1st-and-20 play off and waste a time out

I have a more tolerant attitude for the Steeler fans here than I did before this game. Rooting for a team with awesome talent that is also awesomely dysfunctional would be stressful even to well-adjusted me (ha!).
