Now all that said, Trump losing by 3 instead of 6 might be the difference between holding onto to the Senate or not for Republicans, and the nuclear option for Supreme Court nominees is very much on the table, it is not as if there is nothing at stake.

Trump losing by 3 or less would really suck. (Aside from the obvious benefit of it helping down ballot races.) It would show how winnable the election was, even for Trump, if he could have run just a little bit more disciplined campaign.

The 2008 indictment, and conviction of Ted Stevens, which came on October 27th, and was ultimately voided, cost him re-election, and gave the Democrats a filibuster proof majority in the Senate.

Maybe Hillary can withdraw from the ticket like Bob Torricelli did from his 2002 NJ Senate race when late in the campaign, it became clear how corrupt he was. (Even though replacing him on the ballot was allowed under the current law.)

This saved the Dems a Senate seat. Maybe Hillary will do what's in the best interests of the party and country.

But, funny enough, I don't think a single prominent Democrat has even suggested it.
