Is that a real feud or is it a circle jerk needle between members of The Club?

That was my question. I was hoping someone here would know.

I forget which year it was (it was some time between 2011 and 2013) but it was during one of the Cardinals' playoff runs. There were three fans celebrating a strike out with all three of them holding up Ks. It was one of those that you wish they had thought about for an extra 30 seconds before doing it.

Was over it a long time ago. My biggest worry is that the Cubs will be in the World Series for three or four years in a row. After a while, you're just like the Yankees. (With apologies to Yankees fans everywhere. lol)

To a certain extent, I see your point, Dick, but history is part of a franchise just like the GM, and above all, so is its fanbase. When the Phillies finally won it all in 1980, they'd already been one of the top teams in the game for at least four years who'd had some bad luck in the playoffs. They had three Hall of Famers (Carlton, Schmidt and for the purposes of this essay, Rose), a number of All-Stars, Bowa, Maddox, Tug McGraw, Luzinski) and one of the highest payrolls of the day. They weren't plucky underdogs. But the feeling of doom that hung over the team was palpable, and after they won, some of them were honest enough to admit it affected them, too. I will believe for ever that if it wasn't for Rose, they never would have won a Series. Even though he was about their seventh-best player that year, he brought a different attitude.
