I agree wholeheartedly. Clinton's biggest mistake was focusing on attacking Trump so much. People already knew his flaws. She never said, "here's what I'll do to make your lives better" except on her damn Website. Trump had about 100 promises a day. Many contradictory, but at least he made 'em.

There's a lot of fatalist rhetoric going on right now, and that's to be entirely expected.

Things aren't going to look quite as dire on Monday. And they'll look a little more dire on Jan. 20. And they'll look considerably less dire on Feb. 20.

Man, you know it's a shitty election year when you turn down the third-party candidate for a fifth-party protest vote.

These people will never have the cachet they had before last night.
This was Game Over for a lot of people, not the least them.

I also have to wonder what the truth is of the Putin stories. If the KGB truly has blackmail tapes from Trump in Moscow, that's completely unprecedented.

If nothing else, there should be some very interesting stories coming out after this campaign. I would very much like to know what happened inside the FBI, and if there is any truth to the rumors of conflict between the CIA and FBI over Trump.

Blood from a turnip my friend. And that's before my pre-existing bipolar makes me uninsurable again.

Grieving is a part of loss. This was a big loss, so there will be a long grieving period. But there will eventually be bounceback on the Democratic side. On a night where their side didn't vote, they still got more votes. That's not to say Trump didn't win fair and square, those are the rules. All I mean is that one thing that DOES get people to vote is if they feel you've pushed them too far. People are going to lose their health insurance and die because of this election. That's a given. I've been reading desperate posts from some of them this morning. That's liable to piss people off.

That may be the one saving grace. Donald Trump may be the one man on earth immune to blackmail.

I went to see Robert Reich speak at a local college in March. (Under the same speaker program, I saw George Will a few months earlier.)

Reich is selling his new book, and his leadoff was about his book tour. Said he asked to go to disaffected areas instead of the normal cities he sees. When he asked people who they were voting for, it was Sanders, second choice Trump ... or Trump, second choice Sanders. Parties didn't matter.

Reich took the stage that night as Sanders was wrapping up the Michigan primary. I thought what he said made a lot of sense. Then over the course of the next few months I thought "nah ....."

Reich (and Sanders) was onto something, I guess.
