Need new RS column. Seems as if people who watch MSNBC less happy than people who watch Fox.

After all the initial shock, there's one nagging feeling that saddens me. And I imagine I'll get over it.

I'm thinking about my 3-year-old granddaughter. And someday, her Girl Scout troop might do something really great and have the opportunity to meet the President.

I'd be proud if she were to have the opportunity to shake Barack Obama's hand. Or Ronald Reagan. Or hell, even Jimmy Carter.

I don't think I could muster as much pride if she were acknowledged by Donald Trump.

You forgot: Must not force people to buy insurance.

That's the primary way to make it profitable for insurers.

Insurers lose money and margin when patients use the services for which they are paying. As a result, they want younger, healthy patients because they comprise the population which rarely calls upon their insurance. They also like Medicaid and Medicare Advantage patients because they are federally backed, and there is increased CMS reimbursement for Medicare Advantage patients with chronic / severe conditions.

They've already been tested pretty well by the current administration.

I'm going by Times Upshot estimate. Right now it's 0.2, I think, but most votes outstanding are from the West Coast mail ballot states where Clinton won big and there are like 6 or 7 million outstanding.

I understand why it was put in place, but it's ridiculous and wrong. Oh, and it isn't working, either.

Why does it take so long? I used a paper ballot here in Texas, but it was read by the machine before I walked out the door, wasn't it?

It seems to me it should be a relatively simple matter to hook that machine up to the main vote-counting server. Unless the correct USB cord has gone missing ...

Two things Trump can do to help himself 1. Respond graciously to his beaten foe and the man he's replacing. 2. Discourage the more violent outbursts of his supporters. He will reassure skeptics he's a "normal" albeit very right wing President.
Show trials of Clinton and that continued "kill 'em" crap will only harden the spines of his opponents and alienate possible supporters who're now watchfully neutral. By and large people didn't like this year at all. To continue the campaign nastiness once in power makes it all your fault, not "both sides do it."

When Republicans have a majority, they don't need or care about any extra supporters. So I don't think bringing people into the fold is going to be a big point of emphasis.
