Unless they dig up some old high school football gamers to associate me with "the media," I'm not in any of the groups that would be obvious targets of a President Trump or his true believers. But it takes very little imagination to contemplate some of the horrible things that could await people I care about and other groups in the wider world. And that doesn't even get into him playing footsie with Russia and wanting to turn NATO into a mob protection racket.

Still about six million ballots to be counted, most in California. She will end up winning the popular vote by two full points.

That is the real rigging and it is about to get much, much worse with total Republican control of government. By 2020 a D candidate will need to win by 4 points to win the presidency, and they'll need D+10 nationally to sniff the House.

Gerrymandering will get more out of control without fear of court invalidation. And my god is it ever open season on minority voters after NC.

You know, I don't think they do. And I wish the Dems would realize that the GOP isn't out to make friends if they don't need to. Obama came in with a Dem House and Senate and they didn't talk once about doing away with the filibuster. They pushed ACA through but on the whole didn't reap much advantage from that time.

    I wish they had.

    It will/should end up 305-232.
I'm saying you could have got odds somewhere at 5,000:1 on that a couple of months ago.
    This time yesterday.....probably 50,000:1.

Wasn't always so. But the Party has run off so many. It has drawn others, of course, but a lot of them are flaky. They'll show one election and not the next.

There can and will be more voter suppression, but Congress AND the electoral college won't change until after 2020 election. Funny. After 2012, Democratic worry was Rust Belt states losing population to the SunBelt. Now it's what they're hoping for.

Your belief that every state has that option or that it only takes an hour is the incredibly classic "well it can't possibly be that bad for them because I don't personally experience it."

And, seriously, that has been Putin's take for some time. Our "democratic elections" are just a different kind of fake. People's will means nothing in the primaries (superdelegates! backroom dealing!) and nothing in the general (electoral votes!).

Ain't that the truth. For almost half my life I've felt like Wally Cleaver on Planet Beavis and Butt-head.

Playing footsie > playing intercept those incoming ICBMs.

The Democratic approach in a nutshell. We must pander to every single person, including the healthy and able-bodied, so as not to ever inconvience them in 2016.

Upper Midwest states are incredibly lax. Early voting is all over the place. You don't even need to show an ID when you vote. Even with that, Clinton got her ass kicked and barely won Minnesota.

Perhaps the next step would be publicly-funded Uber rides on Election Day? Über X, please, so the disenfranchised don't have to arrive in a subcompact.
