Since you quoted his "fat, rich slob" thing. It also presupposed that the fat, rich slob (as defined by cranberry, natch) is going to keep trying to operate a business in a place that is hostile toward him. What happens when the fat, rich slob grabs his ball and decides he isn't playing on that court anymore?

Damndest thing, though. The Dow is up 1.2 percent (as I type this). The Nasdaq is down 1.65 percent.

You have people dumping their Apple and Amazon stock and buying banks and materials stocks.

Meanwhile you have interest rates soaring (no exaggeration; I was imagining the Chinese dumping their treasuries during the move yesterday as a "Don't fuck with us" message to our new president), and a particularly crappy 10-year bond auction yesterday in which you could drive a truck through the bid to ask, and broker dealers got stuck with a large number for their inventories. I can't say how long it is going to take. ... but what happens when people wake up to the fact that the higher rates which are now an inevitability (and which we are getting regardless of the Federal Reserve, for what it is worth -- they are playing follow the market at this point) are making it more expensive to borrow, and the only thing that has driven up those stocks people are rotating through has been endless borrowing?

What is coming won't be because of President Trump. But it's going to be ridiculous watching him try to deal with it given that he is Mr. Fix It.

I don't know for a fact that either would benefit from a really crappy job relative to public assistance. I do know that the person who keeps that job and all the other low-skill workers would very likely be hurt by the elimination of the minimum wage.
