You should be worried about this because you're an American.

I don't know Baron. He did a good job of selling that stunner.

Kids have always been cruel. And the Klan existed long before Donald Trump became our orange president elect. Donald Trump has done enough shitty things himself (that we know about for sure, and that we don't yet know about) that are out there to be mined, if you really want to recess over and over again about how terrible his election is. Are we really going to go 4 or 8 years in which every racist, homophobic, sexist, etc. thing that anyone does becomes about Donald Trump?

Oh, fuck you, YF. Mostly I don't play your "show your work" game, because in general I don't feel like taking the time to Google up a bunch of cites that you'll sneer at anyhow.

I worked in wholesale lumber and plywood at the time. I sold building materials to contractors. This shit happened. Unscrupulous people fucked over illegal aliens for profit.

Maybe the word got out sometimes, "Don't work for Joe Smith", but mostly they'd go hit a different spot for day laborers and find new guys to screw over who didn't have a clue. Houston's a huge city, and everyone does not know everyone, even if they ARE both illegal aliens, you know?

Yes, once in a while they'd get caught at it and it would make the papers - a worker would have a wife or girlfriend who said "Oh, hell no, you're not doing that!" and made a stink with the EEOC or the newspaper or something, but they got away with it often enough to keep doing it.

We're obviously talking about fly by night businesses here, not major companies.

It damn well happened to my personal firsthand by God knowledge. I've heard the crooked bastards laughing about it.

First of all, it was posed that because I think the sky is not falling I must not be a Jew worried about passing a religious test.

Second, I'm not worried about it at all. If Newt is part of the government and this gets floated as an actual policy, then we'll talk.

I'm betting that conversation won't happen. Do you think it will?

As another Jew, there's the poem that I'd quote at you. You know it, so I don't have to.

I mean, if someone uses his words to be racist, or marches in celebration because they feel he advances their racist interests, it seems like I could say it's about him. And I could say that worries me. I'm not saying every single thing will be tied to it, but when folks make it blatantly obvious, I'll find it pretty gross, yes.

Yeah, eight years of a president being blamed for some things that he had no control over whatsoever. That would be unprecedented.

Trump's Muslim ban is back up on his website. I'd like the backstory on why it was removed and why it was returned.

Maybe presumptive Chief of Staff Steven Bannon ordered it back up.

Probably not. But should I be worried about a man who throws the idea around? I dunno.

You're right the sky won't fall. My life won't change all that much (probably), and perhaps this is all just theater. Theater that gets a lot of folks riled up though.

The man who apparently threw that idea around did not just get elected President. Just sayin'.
