I don't disagree. But I think it explains why her indiscretions resonate with people and his didn't seem to.

Mr Trump harnessed this popular anger brilliantly. Those who could not bring themselves to vote for him may wonder how half of their compatriots were willing to overlook his treatment of women, his pandering to xenophobes and his rank disregard for the facts. There is no reason to conclude that all Trump voters approve of his behaviour. For some of them, his flaws are insignificant next to the One Big Truth: that America needs fixing. For others the willingness to break taboos was proof that he is an outsider. As commentators have put it, his voters took Mr Trump seriously but not literally, even as his critics took him literally but not seriously. The hapless Hillary Clinton might have won the popular vote, but she stood for everything angry voters despise.

I am so glad California isn't a swing state for that exact reason. At one of my stops in a more rural part of the state had the winner of a city council seat not be decided for two or three weeks after the election because the vote was so close that absentee ballots actually changed the outcome of the race. San Jose's county has all precincts reporting but only about two thirds of the vote counted. The next county up shows about 100,000 votes still to be counted.

With all due respect, that statement is just wrong. Many, many people voted for Trump because they voted the party line.

And/or because HRC is one of the most unlikeable candidates in the history of American politics.

And probably more the latter than the former.

Not racist, not anti-gay, but a deep dislike for the other option presented.

This election was gift wrapped for her. And she's just so damn despised, it went the other way.

A few pages after YF whined about anonymous sources, he posted this report based on anonymous sources.

I think it's a lot more complex than that.

What's Obama's real legacy? Wanted gun control, didn't get it. Got health care, and it's equivalent of the 5 and 8 rule in college hoops back in the 2000s.

He struggled to work with people and accomplish stuff - including help Clinton get elected.

Shoving ACA through with no Republican help is gonna be his legacy because of what comes now

Agreed. Two days after the election and I'm already very sick of Clinton supporters whining about the Electoral College. Seriously, we were the ones complaining when Trump acted as if he wouldn't respect the results of the election. We need to do the same thing now.

No. Everyone knows what Trump is. Anti-gay. Racist. He packaged it and sold it. Hate Hillary? Fine. Don't vote for her. Vote for a third party. Don't fill in president.

But anyone voting FOR Trump approves all of his racist, anti-gay, hateful bullshit. No way around it.

He guided the country through the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression. He got Bin Laden. Two biggies right there.

He'd have the health care law as a third part of the legacy, but that's about to be crushed.
