Mark Halperin Rips 'New York Times' For Continued Anti-Trump Coverage: "This Is The Onion"

"Their headline is not ‘Disaffected Americans Have A Champion Going To The White House’ or ‘The Country Votes For Fundamental Change.’ The headline is about how disappointed the friends of the people who run The New York Times are about what happened," Halperin said.

"It’s amazing," Halperin said. "It’s The Onion."

Depending on where you work, maybe you should just quit your job if you voted for Trump.

GrubHub's CEO now says that's not what he meant. I'll let you decide:

SUBJECT: So... that happened... what's next? I'm still trying to reconcile my own worldview with the overwhelming message that was delivered last night. Clearly there are a lot of people angry and scared as the antithesis of every modern presidential candidate won and will be our next president.

While demeaning, insulting and ridiculing minorities, immigrants and the physically/mentally disabled worked for Mr. Trump, I want to be clear that this behavior - and these views, have no place at Grubhub. Had he worked here, many of his comments would have resulted in his immediate termination. We have worked for years cultivating a culture of support and inclusiveness. I firmly believe that we must bring together different perspectives to continue innovating - including all genders, races, ethnicities and sexual, cultural or ideological preferences. We are better, faster and stronger together. Further I absolutely reject the nationalist, anti-immigrant and hateful politics of Donald Trump and will work to shield our community from this movement as best as I can. As we all try to understand what this vote means to us, I want to affirm to anyone on our team that is scared or feels personally exposed, that I and everyone else here at Grubhub will fight for your dignity and your right to make a better life for yourself and your family here in the United States. If you do not agree with this statement then please reply to this email with your resignation because you have no place here. We do not tolerate hateful attitudes on our team.I want to repeat what Hillary said this morning, that the new administration deserves our open minds and a chance to lead, but never stop believing that the fight for what's right is worth it.

    Stay strong, Matt

I liked this post. People often don't consider that kind of thing when they throw around income numbers -- for all the purposes people do that. It's not about how much you earn relative to someone somewhere else. Or about how much you earn (in nominal OR real terms) relative to how much you earned in the past. What matters is your standard of living, not the dollar figure in earnings. It is why monetary inflation that is created intentionally is so insidious. It robs people while pretending it isn't doing it. Would you prefer to earn $200,000 or $20,000, if the $20,000 bought you a better lifestyle and standard of living than the $200,000 would buy you in another time or place?

The number of seats the Democrats have lost in the past couple of cycles (senate/house/governor/state sentate/state house/etc.) is absolutely staggering. More than 900 in state legislature alone since 2009 (not counting the 2016 debacle). If someone is going to get hysterical, I'd say this is the place you might want to address.

It didn't help that the two most compelling reasons she had for why she deserved to win were "I'm a woman" and "It's my turn."

Also, she proved again what a terrible speechmaker and campaigner she is.

The sports analogy is that some people were meant to be coordinators, not head coaches.

Not trying to pick a fight, but since we have determined that the poll numbers were for shit beforehand, how do we know they are accurate now? Meaning, are they lying with this?

She's the Wade Phillips of presidential candidates? Or maybe the Marion Campbell.

When I encounter something like this, I often think of George Washington Vanderbilt II. He was the grandson of the Commodore, easily worth in the billions in today's dollars, and he lived the life of an English royal. He was one of the richest men in the world, and he died of complications from an appendectomy.
