I'm willing to bet that I live in a more diverse state, city, and neighborhood than you do.

I also purposefully chose to live here.

Take your white guilt elsewhere. Go volunteer at a soup kitchen. It will make you feel better.

Nah. She was Jack Kent Cooke with a net of balloons hoisted above the Forum floor ready to fall once the Lakers beat the Celtics in Game 7.

    Damn, I'm old.

As for why HRC seemed to spend so much time in North Carolina and Florida, winning those would have meant reaching 270 votes. She was barely in IA, WI, OH, MI and PA in the final weeks.

Yet I also don't think that Hillary's presence would have left that much. 24 years of Hillary Clinton fatigue was just too much -- who, when she campaigns, comes off as the overbearing sports mom always seeking justice in her kid's amount of playing time.

Trump was/is an asshole. The people who attended his rallies acted like assholes. Yet I will put down a clear distinction in the people who attended Trump rallies and the millions of people who avoided the rallies but voted for Trump.

True. But it's the best we've got.

Since exit polls showed Clinton winning, I wouldn't be surprised if Trump's numbers with Hispanics and African-Americans was even higher.

Shy Trump voters, even with exit pollsters.

Right. Not every Manchester United fan is the fucking asshole getting lit and starting fights at a bar near the stadium.

I wish I believed Trump was capable of making that distinction

    Seriously.

I have seen it put in terms of "work hours it costs to afford something." My go-to on it is that income in real terms has barely budged for a lot of people over the last 30 or 40 years. ... Something that gets pointed out often, and it is true for the most part.

But the typical person in the 1970s was exerting more work hours to own crappier things than a similar person owns today. Take a look at a 1970s Sears catalog, and look at median incomes and it's easy to figure out the number of work hours it cost someone to own things.

It's funny. A TV that isn't high definition, or a personal computer with 1 zillionth of the power a computer has today, or a washer dryer without the features you get in one today, etc. You had to work more hours for things and they were crummier than they are today. And that isn't including things that exist now that didn't exist then, such as a smart phone.

Sure, your income in real terms has barely gone anywhere. But the standard of living that income affords you today is way better than it was during the time you are comparing it to. Which is more important, that income in nominal or real terms (however you are looking at it)? Or what your life is like?

Exactly. And many Trump voters did so with considerable qualms, but decided their need for change was worth the risk. I disagree, but that's hardly an opinion beyond the pale of civil society.
BTW, Trump could do himself a lot of good by condemning the verbal and physical abuse aimed at minorities by white men who use his name to justify it. It's a low bar, but his popularity will definitely increase if he takes steps to show he's not a monster.

Have fun in your no-bedroom efficiency apartment. The couch turns into a bed.

The exit polling numbers and the officially tabulated results seem to be off in a strangely consistent manner.
