I think health care costs would be rising without it and fewer companies would be offering decent insurance. That said, certain parts of Obamacare-- like guaranteeing coverage with pre-existing conditions -- add to the overall cost but are popular.

Yeah, Christie is even more of a loser this election year than Clinton.

Does that mean Trump and Christie had a breakup or Christie is going to be slated for a big-boy job?

I've posted this before, but Christie cannot afford to be nominated for any job requiring Senate confirmation, because he would be forced to testify under oath about Bridgegate. Could he be a backstage consigliere? Yes.

Christie couldn't even get the McDonald's run in Washington right, I guess.

IIRC, Karl Marx anticipated this in his Communist Manifesto, the maturation from a capitalist economy to a super-capitalist economy built on services, not manufacturing.

Those that are not sharing in the economic recovery post-2008 rightly voted their displeasure. I applaud them. They however are not accepting the reality that the US economy is not, and economically cannot compete as, a manufacturing economy. It just doesn't make economic sense. Unfortunately, no one has made any attempt to explain that in simplistic terms.

My issue is that its always been easier to complain than find a solution.

My kid is going to college next year and is planning on majoring in engineering, I'm happy for him because engineers drive innovation and invention. Unfortunately, downstream, the building of those innovations and inventions will occur off-shore. How will those less fortunate, at least educationally, survive or make a living? Since the early 80's no one has tried very hard to come up with the solution.

The Times story said Pence took over because they need to move things along and Pence has better D.C. connections. I wouldn't be surprised if that is true. ... I guess I also wouldn't be surprised if Trump and Christie had a crazy shouting match and Trump ended it with, "You're fired!"

The thing with Christie is he can come across as very personable, likable and reasonable one on one. I think he could be valuable in some capacity.

Beyond that, we may have self-driving trucks within 10 years. That would wipe out about 2 or 3 million truck driving jobs. Those pay pretty well for someone without a diploma or degree.

What will happen to those folks? Could/should the case be made that self-driving trucks should not be allowed?
