Just curious--do y'all think a state actually could economically try and pull this off? Just thinking that if they lose all their federal funding and support, there's no way they could survive. May be wrong and don't know enough about the deep details involved, but seems like an impossibility to me.

I wonder how much the gay marriage decision hurt Hillary. There wasn't a social issue to energize the coastal elites and millennial douche bags that now make up the Democrstic base. Not one on the horizon, either.

    Awesome.

I love it when Trumpables get all huffy and screech, "you libs with all yer fancee kollege book-lernin,' you think yer some kinda jeenuses and tell us not to vote for Trump."

Uh, no. We didn't say don't vote for Trump because we thought we were geniuses, just that we weren't Mother Fucking Morons.

It didn't take an Einstein IQ to figure out Trump is a buffoon clown, dumber than dogshit, with no fucking clue whatsoever of how to do the job and utterly abominable self discipline and non existent personal integrity, not to mention the personality of a complete bucket of shit.

It doesn't take no highfalutin' intelleckshual eleetism to figger
    that out.

You didn't have to be a genius to vote against Trump, just not a complete Fucking shithead.

If that's intellectual elitism, well, I plead guilty.

No I was sitting right outside Birmingham, the city where the Ku Klux Klan merrily passed out flyers Wednesday without a care in the world.

Go fuck yourself. If your side wins every election from here to kingdom come you still don't rise above the level of a piece of shit.

I'm not enough of an expert to give more than an armchair secessionist's opinion, either, but there are some obvious requirements to even try:
    1) Natural resources, especially energy and food production
    2) Access to open water or an international border
    3) Some sort of sound technological and transportation infrastructure
    4) Either a good-sized population to provide a strong tax base, or a small enough population where you don't have to stretch resources as far
    5) A culture of independence

So Kansas isn't going it solo. Neither is Tennessee. Texas could, and California could because they have all of those requirements -- especially if they take some of their neighboring states with them. A Gulf States coalition with Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama could be a strong independent nation with its natural resources and geography. A western coalition with California, Oregon and Washington could do the same with its technology industries and dominance of the west coast.

A state like Alaska could do it because it's on the other end of the scale where it has almost no transportation infrastructure it would need to maintain. A small state like Vermont might be able to, as well, because that's the kind of place where socialism can actually work and it has a culture of doing its own thing.
