Yeah. A lot of people voted for Trump. More of them voted for Clinton. Trump shouldn't have won, but he did. I don't think all or even a good part of his voters would be down with tyranny. I have to think that. Otherwise I'd have to fight or leave and I'm too damn old for either.

Each of D.C.'s 3 electoral votes represented the "will" of 224,000 voters ... Each of Texas' 38 represented that of 723,000.

I misspoke and was sloppy with my language. The point is that you are enshrining in the Constitution what a private citizen CAN'T do. It's quite different than supporting a legislative ban at the state or even federal level.

In a strange twist, there's a lot of people on the right who would (or should) be at the front of the line resisting.
Using gay marriage as an example, there are a lot of people who were not happy with it. There are a lot of people who would like to see more conservative justices on the Supreme Court. Those same people have long railed against activist judges, and should be against that use of the Court no matter what agenda they're advancing.
I'm thinking and hoping my side is geared more toward limiting future actions than rolling back established precedents.

The big thing to remember is that people on the right are ecstatic that Hillary lost. A fair number are still taking a wait and see approach on Trump.

Correct. But the cumulative effect across all such anomalies goes clearly in the other direction

I agree with that last sentence. Trump didn't unify the Republican vote. She did. A significant percentage of his voters are well aware of how unpredictable and untrustworthy he is.

It'd be funny to see, if it weren't so alarming, the complete flip-flop in attitudes in the span of a week.
Last weekend, we were worried they were coming for our guns.
This weekend, we're convinced they're coming for our our unborn fetuses.
