If by "coastal elites" you mean "a majority of people who live in and around big cities," then yes. But this has been true since 1968. The only difference is the Democratic coalition got enough members to stop having its ass kicked in presidential elections all the time. Elections are about reactions to which parties and pols adjust as best they can. Planning and demographic thumbsucking only goes so far. Obama got elected as a reaction to what were seen as the disasters of the Bush years by most voters. Trump won as a reaction to what white people in rural and exurban areas see as social and to a lesser extent economic changes they don't like at all. The next elections of 2018 and 2020 will be governed by the reactions to Trump, whatever the hell they may be.

Why is that an LOL. He's right. And he didn't say that he was a coal miner. He said he came from the white working class.

It's just just coastal elites. It's the city dwellers. Studies show that liberals/progressives prefer to live in areas that are more densely populated. They generally like to be around other people.

You see that in our city where largely white areas close to the city with tightly packed houses, condos and apartments are almost all Democrats and places on the edge of the city with homes more spread out in neat neighborhoods are almost all Republicnas.

True. How could you effectively host a cocktail party without a lot of people nearby?

If you picks justices that are firmly against abortion and staunchly for gun rights, the chances that they are going to have a dim view on gay marriage are pretty good. And all it takes is a case to float their way.

Republicans drink, don't they? I mean except for the Baptists.

Maybe don't use the word "executing" until people calm down a bit?

In fairness, the reason Baptists don't drink is because it might lead to dancing.

There are dimwits who believe the Earth is 6,000 years old. "Make your case" isn't effective against the dimwit SJ crowd.
