Yes. I remember how President Obama's failure to close Gitmo cost him the 2012 election.

Seriously, wouldn't most candidates and least make some effort to show they were trying to fulfill their campaign promises?

I think if Trump would tweet out something nasty about Mexico being too broke to pay for the wall and slapping Hillary around in an interrogation room would soothe his base.

 

And Jan. 21, you can begin bitching in earnest. I mean, c'mon.

 

I remember Obama making this the fixture of his campaign. Remember when he promised to make Cuba pay for it?

And everywhere he went, his supporters were chanting, "Close down Gitmo!"

 

Aw come on now, he didn't really mean any of that stuff, except for the stuff I really like!

 

They'll be reporting back to work at their imaginary posts.

 

I remember also the good hearted cooperation Obumbo got in closing Gitmo.

 

While we're on the topic of Gitmo, and this definitely put me in the minority among the Kumbayah-singing Obama multitudes, I always said the biggest problem with Gitmo was that the rough-and-tough, big-balls, badass Bush/Cheney team didn't take about 93% of the fucking grunts at Gitmo, torture then to the moon for two weeks to wring out any molecule of information they might have had, then take them out back of the barracks, pump a bullet in their heads and drop 'em in a trench.

 

The promise is to secure the border.

People understand this.
