Yeah, I offered no proof of something that happened in Texas in the late Eighties. Newspaper articles from that era are pretty hard to Google.

I don't know how I'd even begin to prove what I heard what someone say nearly thirty years ago.

 

I thought I heard somewhere that the Department of Education was going to be eliminated or "cut down to shreds" because Washington has no place educating our kids.

Were those the kind of words that mean things or the kind that don't? Please advise.

The vast majority of the money for all public schools comes from local and state tax revenue. The feds give aid, but that is the limit of federal control of the pursestrings. My town has one of the country's best public school systems, and Star, if you saw my property tax bills, you'd know how it does it.

I'm thinking back to the 2,000 or so budget meetings I've sat in, and I'm trying to remember a time when an editor or group of editors directed the use of a particular photo to evoke a certain response, or ordered the selection of a particular story to evoke a certain response. Just can't seem to recall that happening.
