I love the Big Ten, but if Michigan and Ohio State both get into the playoff, the credibility of the format will be destroyed.

The credibility of the format is intact, which is a back room deal to pick the perception of the 4 best teams. What is destroyed is regular season conference play. They are just games on the schedule.
Wins and stats against teams not in The power 5 conferences should not count and should be considered exhibitions

Which is what college football has always been about. Beat your rival, win your conference. Used to be the formula for a successful season. The journey used to be what it's all about. Now it's only the destination. We have fans of teams that lost by 6+ touchdowns moaning that they're not going to make the playoffs.

Our "playoff" obsession (in all sports) has gone off the deep end. More teams, more rounds, more wild cards!

LOL, moaning. I'm not moaning that USC isn't going. They lost September. They're out. That's fine.

And other than Alabama, they'd beat any team in the country right now.

You can have one, and still have the other.

Ah the luxury of proffering a hypothesis that'll never be tested.

Mississippi must really make your head spin then. Ranked in the top 10 at the start of every season and lucky to be .500 at the end.

I'll try to work up an equation if you give me longer than 90 minutes ...

A: The set of teams USC would beat
B: The set of teams USC would not beat
C: The set of teams referred to as "The Crimson Tide"

    Theorem: A - B = A - C
    Proof: @Songbird says so

D: The set of teams USC might not beat.

Undefeated Western Michigan, which beat Northwestern, which beat Iowa, which beat Michigan, which lost 2 of the last 3 and isn't playing in the B10 title game but still might make the playoffs.
