Because, they lost 3 of the first 4. The first 3 games (1-2) were with a freshman QB who isn't so hot.

The 4th game was at Utah, starting another freshman QB, who is very good, and USC was ahead 27-24 before Utah scored a TD with 15 seconds to play in the game for the win.

USC hasn't lost a game since; its 8 straight wins are by an average of 21 points. They are the only team in the league to beat the participants of the Pac 12 title game.

It's not under-appreciation necessarily. It's that people refuse to look beyond the 3 losses in September.

Well, don't let this stuff "bother" you so much. We're talking about opinions, here, opinions based on what we have seen.

USC's original starting QB was Max Browne, who is a fourth-year junior. He will be a fifth-year senior somewhere else next season, maybe Cal, unless Darnold suffers a career-ending injury in the bowl game.

Would you prefer "puts me in an @Starman-like rage"?

Don't piss off Starman until we find out how volleyball season ended.

So aside from those multiple fumbles in the one game and that game where they were utterly destroyed, they have been great.

So aside from giving up 359 rush yards and 42 points to Pitt and getting trashed by 39 to Michigan, Penn State has been great.

So aside from scoring 7 against Michigan and losing its second straight a week later, Wisconsin has been great.

So aside from losing to Iowa, which lost to Northwestern, which lost to Western Michigan -- and now losing 2 of the last 3 in November -- Michigan has been great.

So aside from barely beating Troy (which lost by 32 to Arkansas State) and losing to Pitt, Clemson has been great.

    Any others?

Penn State and Clemson are in conference title games. If people hadn't sprouted wood about conference title games a few seasons ago, then that might be less relevant.

Time for the conferences to redo for who plays in championship games. Get rid of the stupid divisions. Have each team play their main rival but rotate the rest of the schedule that will have the top two teams meet for the conference title, even if it's a repeat of an earlier game.

Agree there. But how many wins does Michigan have outside of its home state? 1. Maybe they will even have the playoff game played at the Big House. Wisconsin has 3 top-10 wins. Unfortunately for them every win over a top 10 team at the time of the win sank like a rock after losing to Badgers. LSU is their best win, bashed MSU in East Lansing and beat Nebraska when they were No. 9. If Badgers beat Penn State that's 4 top-10 wins.
