Guessing the Hero World Challenge gets the best rating it has ever had.

Tournament means zero, no matter what. But if Woods is solid, then things get interesting. If he's healthy, things get interesting.

Good for golf if Woods is competitive in 2017.

No doubt. Gotta prove it. Have huge doubts he can. But it's good for the game if he's relevant.

Mile high will tell you he doesn't understand why networks still cover every Tiger shot.

    Ratings tell you why.

They're not setting up this course to present any kind of challenge to anyone. Everyone's going to get a trophy and, unless a tropical storm appears, they'll shoot a lot of 65s.

If the Golf Channel doesn't follow him on every shot today, they do not understand what the viewer wants to see. It's that simple. I'll be watching with the glimmer of hope he'll recapture the magic, all the while knowing we might see a train wreck.

Of course, even if he shoots that 65, it will be a different Tiger. The days of him overpowering a golf course with his length are over. If he brings it back, it will be through precise shotmaking.

  10. His practice round Wednesday we pretty solid... pars and eagles. He went something like nine holes without a biridie and was 3-under, with a pair of eagles. I don't know if that's where he finished (3-under). I saw it on Twitter that he playing solid-to-well as far as swings and shots.

Not sure if any of this has or will address the Yips.
