For God's sake, you act as if you have to actually draw on some specific well of expertise to do the gig at HUD. You don't. Like many of the cabinet-level positions, it's a figurehead role.

Man, YF. You really need to seek help. The way you behave here is truly disturbing adult behavior. You're not the only one, mind you.

Its more sensible and defensible for a hard right administration to say we dont see the need for Departments of HUD, Education, HHS and a few others. We are going to stream line management. A domestic policy chief with sub-departments, defense, state and AG.

But Carson in the debates has shown, that despite whatever medical expertise he has, is too weird to be in charge of the hospital supply room

BTW, didn't we all learn this back in the 90's when Henry Cisneros was Bill Clinton's HUD Secretary?

The San Antonio mayor's job is a nothing burger. It exists purely for resume building for Hispanic Democrats, bound for higher office.

Castro at least stayed out of trouble so far.

In December 1997, Cisneros was indicted on 18 counts of conspiracy, giving false statements and obstruction of justice. In September 1999, Cisneros negotiated a plea agreement, under which he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of lying to the FBI and was fined $10,000. He did not receive jail time or probation.
    ...
Clinton later pardoned Cisneros in January 2001.

Oh. Well, then Castro and Carson are equally suited!

Odd stance to take, given a lot of San Antonians give Mayor Hardberger the credit for revitalizing the Riverwalk in the 2000s. Castro was on the city council that approved that effort. He was also part of the city council that got a Toyota truck plant built there.

What's laughable is the attempt by some to diminish Castro's role in city government in one of the largest cities in the USA in an attempt to wallpaper over Trump picking a guy with zero experience in any related field.

I notice there is no defense of the unqualified Ben Carson being named as HUD Secretary.

San Antonio is the sports writer of mayorships.

LOL. He voted on a couple of -- non housing related -- projects as a city councilman? That's you argument?

Was the city council job a full time job?

So, if the Mayor's job is so significant, why is it part time, and why does it pay so little?

What's the point of the highly paid city manager?
